Moody Yachts France

Moody Yachts… was a very long term partnership of two of the best names in the world of boat building – Princess Yachts International and Moody Yachts International. Princess Yachts International is the UK’s largest boat builder and possesses what are almost certainly Europe’s most modern boat building plants.

As 2004 drew to a close, and with the necessary expansion of motor boat production at Princess Yacht international the last Moodys left the site after a close collaboration of over 25 years and a new chapter in Moody’s history.

The Princess Moulds for both the Moody 54 and 64 were roadhauled to VT Halmatic at Portsmouth to join those of the brand new Moody 49 designed to replace the aging Moody 47 after a production run of over 100 boats since 1998.

The Moody 54 was retooled to become the Moody 56 finishing off an update already begun at Princess the previous year, and hence one can find Moody 56 series 1 models from Princess and Moody 56 series 2 built by VT Halmatic.

The Moody 64 was rejigged and was soon to emerge as the Moody 66 with a new window line and twin lazarettes on the lengthened rear platform. Updating the style of the flagship model. The first production Moody 66 arriving in Monte Carlo as 2006 approached.

VT Halmatic later sold their site; with production costs being at an all time high in the UK ,and a strong pound at the time, it was uneconomical to continue production on a low volume basis.

Therefore after a relatively short production run the moulds and toolings for the original Moody range were broken up and the Moody brand name sold to Hanse in Germany to expand their boat range upmarket, using Bill Dixon as the designer.

We run superb examples of both the Moody 64 and Moody 66 on our Charter fleet; and continually source prime examples of these beautiful yachts for discening customers. The big Moody`s sailing qualities ease of sailing and comfort, are as much of a performance issue as stability, stiffness, and handling. By making Blue Water cruising more comfortable and enjoyable, we also make it more accessible to clients and customers from all over the world.

Moody Yachts France worked under Princess yachts during the final years of production in Plymouth . Having project managed the sale and build of many of the bigger boats during this period ;the transfer to VT Halmatic ; and the years since; as a company we have amassed a wealth of knowledge on these particular vessels.
